SAT Recommendations

Seventh grade:
  • Each day, go to College Board and complete "The Official SAT Question of the Day." This is a free service that takes less than five minutes. After answering, a full explanation of the correct answer is provided.
Eighth grade:
  • Each day, go to College Board and complete "The Official SAT Question of the Day." This is a free service that takes less than five minutes. After answering, a full explanation of the correct answer is provided.
Freshmen:
  • Take 2 full practice tests that will provide an itemized report of strengths and weaknesses.
Sophomores:
  • Take 2 full practice tests that will provide an itemized report of strengths and weaknesses.
  • Take the PSAT in October as practice for the National Merit qualifying test. GHS will administer this test on a first come first serve basis for all Sophomores and Juniors. 
Juniors:.
  • In October take the PSAT/NMSQT. The scores from this test can qualify a student for the National Merit Scholarships.
  • In January take the actual SAT test for the first time. 
  • If needed, re-take SAT during May/June.
Seniors:
  • Last recommended date for seniors to take the SAT is October.
